Mussels are an excellent source of seafood that gives us their delicate and sweet taste. The taste is further emphasized and enriched with the aroma of wine.
White wine acts as a base for cooking mussels, as they release the aroma that is in the rich liquid in which they are cooked as they are heated. The result is a delicious sauce, which creates a perfect balance between the flavors of the sea and the freshness of the wine.
Mussels in white wine
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons of butter (or 50 ml of olive oil)
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 1 lemon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground paprika
- 2 cups of white wine
- 900 g of mussels
- a bunch of parsley
Directions
- Melt the butter or heat the olive oil in a pan. Add the chopped garlic and fry for about 30 seconds.
- Add ground paprika and grated lemon peel and mix well. Fry for about 45 seconds more.
- Pour the white wine into the pan. Season with pepper and bring the sauce to a boil.
- Add the clams to the pan and immediately cover. Shake the pan to mix the ingredients well. Let the sauce simmer for a few more minutes.
- Check to see if the clams have opened. If they are, add the chopped parsley, cover the pan again and cook for another 1-3 minutes until the mussels open completely.
- Serve the mussels in a sauce enriched with garlic, paprika, lemon zest and white wine. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley.
