The RE:CYCLE Swedish bicycle is an excellent example of how to use recycled materials to help the planet and people.
Swedish start-up Vélosophy after two years in the making, he sent his first city bike, made of of recycled Nespresso coffee capsules. These are made of aluminum and it is aluminum that has found its second purpose in the construction of the bicycle. They are needed for the whole bike only 300 capsules. Every year around the world throw away 56 billion coffee capsules. This could make a lot of bikes.
Nespresso is aware of the potential of its capsules, so they are happy for any kind of cooperation. They have also already worked from their capsules swiss army knives, nobel ballpoint pens and of course new capsules. When buying a RE:CYCLE bike, we will not only support the reuse of raw materials. Vélosophy some of its income donates in the form of bicycles for schoolgirls from third world countries, who otherwise cannot afford a bicycle. Let's also say that RE:CYCLE is a project of a former employee of IKEA, Jimmy Östholm. Since they don't have physical stores, we make all purchases online. An environmentally friendly city bike will cost us 1,290 euros.
