German product designer Simon Freund knows exactly what to make from discarded shopping bags from popular brands. Here is recycling with style, the “Shopping Bag” project, where a designer creates designer chairs from old shopping bags.
Have you ever wondered what to do with old bags from your favorite brands? German product designer Simon Freund came up with a creative answer with a project he called simply "Shopping Bag".
Simon is an artist who breathes new life into discarded shopping bags, purpose and function by transforming them into designer chairs. The chair's minimalist metal frame is decorated with seats and backrests made from discarded polyethylene shopping bags with inscriptions of popular brands such as COS, Supreme, Acne Studios and Wood Wood.
The designer wanted to combine design and functionality in the project, in which shopping bags take over the role of the seat and back of the chair, referring to the concept of modern consumer society. The uniqueness of the project, in addition to its interesting appearance, can be seen precisely in its complex conceptual vision, expressed through a simple design. The public is up to the designer anti-consumer design reacted with a strong consumer response, as a result of which the designer even had to turn away some customers, and he cites the Supreme shopping bag chair as the most popular of the chairs.
