Research says young people have never been so unhappy

It has always been said that youth is the most beautiful period of life. Is that really the case? More and more young people are not satisfied with their lives. According to new research, they have never been as unhappy as they are today.

New research conducted by The Prince's Trust, found that the level of happiness among young people is steadily decreasing. What's more, young people are unhappy like never before.

The survey, which has been conducted since 2009, included 2,194 participants aged 16 to 25. She revealed the reasons why young people are so unhappy.

1. Disappointment with the labor market

In the labor market, it is difficult to find a job in which young people can fulfill their potential.

Although young people are capable of achieving many things, they are forced to work in jobs they are not comfortable with. As many as 28 % young people do not want to do their current job, while 73 % think they have the potential for a better job. All of this is reflected in lowered self-esteem.

2. Bad implementation of ambitions

Young people are ambitious, but at the same time pessimistic about their future. As many as 67 %s think they could be doing more things right now that would help them have a more successful career.

3. Withering hope for the future

Economic and political uncertainty affects the thinking of young people that they have no control over their lives. Almost half of them believe that there will be fewer job opportunities in the future.

4. Work affects well-being

The pressures of a turbulent job market make it hard to stay positive. Work is closely related to the individual's well-being. 61 % of young people believes that it gives them the essence of existence.

5. Gender differences

Women put more pressure on themselves than men.

There is a noticeable difference in thinking between the two sexes. Women put more pressure on themselves than men, and at the same time, they are more likely to believe that low self-esteem is the reason for lower success.

The old saying goes that 'the world stands on the young'. This is precisely why state authorities and various organizations will have to do more in the future to motivate young people in planning their life path. When investing in education, it is imperative that young people are offered more opportunities for career development. Society must strive to ensure that young people do not feel lethargic in it.
