In November, the Ljubljana National Gallery will open a new temporary exhibition of drawings by one of the four central personalities of impressionist painting in Slovenia: Rihard Jakopič. The exhibition entitled Notebooks will be on display until February.
The famous quartet of Slovenian impressionist painters, who changed painting in Slovenia forever a century ago, consist of Ivan Grohar, Matej Sternen, Matija Jama and Rihard Jakopič. The last one was without a doubt also the central figure of the painting of the first half of the 20th century in our area, as among other things he built the first art exhibition gallery here at his own expense - Jakopič's pavilion.

On November 18, it will be held in Ljubljana's National Gallery (in the creation of which Jakopič was also a major initiator) opening of the Notebook exhibition. On display will be many drawings that have become independent in his oeuvre to the extent that we can speak of his modern perception of the drawing as an independent medium. For his contemporaries, drawing was primarily a tool for recording ideas, which were then realized in colors, and photography quickly took its place.
The Notebook exhibition will be on display until February 14, 2016, and visitors can see many of Jakopič's paintings all year round in the permanent collection of the National Gallery.
