The Chinese manufacturer Roewe, under the umbrella of SAIC Motor, set an incredible Guinness record with its D7 DMH model: it covered 2,200 km without stopping! Is it interesting to you? Read on!

The Roewe brand achieved worldwide recognition with the model D7 DMH, which made history as the plug-in hybrid with the longest range in the world without additional charging or refueling. That's 2,208 kilometers (1,372 miles) without a single stop - almost as much as it would take to depart from Ljubljana to London. This stunning journey was completed between the Chinese cities of Lanzhou and Urumqi, in conditions from +30 to -8 °C, where the vehicle was tested in various weather conditions and altitudes.

What drives the Roewe D7 DMH?

Under the hood D7 DMH hides a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that develops 112 horsepower (PS), combined with a 150-kilowatt (204 PS) electric motor, which creates a total power of 330 Nm of torque. Such a combination is managed by a dual-stage coaxial gearbox and a traditional CVT, which allows for a smooth transfer of power to the road. On a fully charged battery and gas tank, the vehicle provides a combined range of as much as 1,400 kilometers (870 miles), while the purely electric range is 125 kilometers (78 miles). This is enough for most city errands, since on average users drive less than 50 kilometers per day.

Average consumption: New benchmarks for hybrid vehicles

One of the most impressive data is the average consumption of the D7 DMH model, which is only 2.49 liters per 100 km (113.4 mpg-UK), which is extremely low for a plug-in hybrid. This means that, in addition to its range, it also impresses with its energy efficiency and reduces the need for frequent visits to gas stations.

Interior and technological progress

Although the details of the vehicle's interior are still shrouded in mystery, Roewe hinted that the vehicle will be equipped with modern infotainment systems that include smartphone integration and extensive customization options. It is possible to expect high-quality materials, a spacious design and technological advances that will make it easier for drivers to manage and access information in real time. Roewe strives to include advanced artificial intelligence, which will take care of consumption prediction and driving mode optimization.

Price and availability

Roewe D7 DMH is currently available in China at a price of approx 100,000 yuan, which corresponds to approx 12,800 euros. The price is extremely competitive for a vehicle with such characteristics, but it is not clear whether the vehicle will be available in European markets. If this were to happen, it could present serious competition to European and American brands that are struggling to improve their hybrid and electric models.

Conclusion

The Roewe D7 DMH is more than just a vehicle – it's proof that technological progress and sustainability can come together in an efficient and user-friendly vehicle that defies the range limitations that have long plagued plug-in hybrids. With this record, Roewe showed that China has the potential to become a leader in the field of hybrid and electric mobility. And although the arrival of the model in Europe has not yet been confirmed, we can only hope that we will also be treated to such innovative vehicles at an affordable price on the old continent.
