Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra: pure revolution

The rumors were true. The Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra smartphones are truly in a class of their own.

Samsung introduced smartphones Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra, which does they can boast a lot and cause quite a few gray hairs for competitors who may not be as bold with their products. Samsung imposed on its trio quite a few novelties and functions, which will undoubtedly be fun to play with. Let's take a look at what's happening at the "Unpacked" event and see what new things will (maybe?) land in our pockets this year.

The new trio is called Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra. There are quite a few differences between them, even if they seem to be separated only by size. But they also have a lot in common. To avoid confusion, we'll go in order.

Design

The Samsung Galaxy S20 smartphones will also be from glass and metal, except that the S20 Ultra model will use an aluminum frame instead Stainless Steel. The latter is more resistant to shocks, but also a little heavier. It adorns the front of all models large screen, which has become even thinner at the edges. S20 and S20+ models they won't have a curved screen on the edges, but the S20 Ultra will still retain that.

Screens

As said, they will screen edges even thinner, so diagonally, despite the same size of the cases as last year, they will be larger. More precisely: S20 measure 15.7 centimeters, S20+ 17 centimeters and S20 Ultra 17.5 centimeters. All three models will have the same screen resolution, 3200x1440. Users are certainly most looking forward to the fact that the new screens will be refreshed at a frequency of 120Hz, which is definitely a step in the right direction. However, the matter still has a bit of a bitter aftertaste, since such a high refresh rate will be possible to save battery only at 1080p resolution, but unfortunately there is no option for 90Hz. Maybe this will be fixed in one of the upcoming updates?

Cameras

This is where Samsung has certainly excelled the most. Let's start with the S20. This one will have 4 cameras, 3 back, 1 front. Main will remain at resolution 12MP, but due to the slightly larger pixels, it will produce better results in night photography. In order for the latter to improve even in ultra-wide shots, it is the ultra-wide camera reduced its resolution to 12 MP (last year 16 MP). The most interesting is "telephoto” camera, which, unlike other telephoto camera implementations, does not have optical zoom, but rather it does everything digitally or it is a hybrid zoom. Resolution camera 64MP will produce sharp enough photos that can be digitally enlarged up to 2 or 3 times, without losing sharpness. Selfie camera will be in resolution 10MP.

The S20+ model boasts exactly the same four cameras, and is added next to it sensor ToF“, which is basically a depth sensor to add a blurred background. The S20 Ultra retains only the ultra-wide camera from the mentioned four, as there are two left absolutely crazy and more than suitable for the most expensive model. Main sensor namely, it has a resolution of 108MP. It will of course convert the captured data into a 12 MP photo, which will therefore be much sharper. third, telephoto camera, has a resolution 48MP in style periscope, which boasts of 10x optical and what 100x digital zoom. Selfie camera will have a resolution of 40MP.

And this. All three models will be the first on the market to be able to record videos in 8K/24fps resolution.

Specifications

The new Galaxy S20 line will undoubtedly be this time as well among the most powerful. As we are used to in Europe, all three models will be equipped with home processor Exynos 990 and had 8 GB working memory (12 GB for the 5G version) and 12 GB for S20 Ultra. Storage space (which will ability to upgrade via memory card) will be a decent size 128 GB respectively 265 GB, while the S20 Ultra model will also offer the option to upgrade to 512 GB. The latter is said to be the only one that will exclusively support the 5G network, while the other two models will be sold in both 4G and 5G versions. Samsung Galaxy S20 smartphones include large intelligent battery, they offer fast charging (25 W), and the Galaxy S20 Ultra allows even super fast charging (45 W).

At Samsung, they made a final decision abandon the headphone output and surrender completely to the wireless future. Accordingly, this year as well are offering the new Galaxy Buds+ wireless headphones for pre-order. They acquired the latter additional microphone (this will serve to keep the voice clear during the conversation, but the headphones will not be able to actively remove noise) and additional internal speaker (one for bass and one for treble). It will be the most noticeable battery update, as the latter will last as long as 11 hours, yet additional 11 hours but it will be possible to get it when charging via a portable box. The Galaxy Buds+ app is out now also compatible with the iOS operating system and delivers an incredible audio experience no matter what device you use.

Partnership with Netflix

The partnership between Samsung and Netflix delivers greater integration a well-known provider of streaming content to Galaxy devices. He promises himself improved Netflix viewing experience on a Galaxy device, more additional content for users and greater integration of the Bixby assistant. If we tell her to play Stranger Things, she'll just open Netflix and start playing.

The Galaxy S20 will cost the least 909 euros, for the S20+ model 1,009 euros and for the S20 Ultra model 1,369 euros. The devices, which come in space gray, sky blue and sky pink, are already available for pre-order.
