Samsung has taken a step forward with the new generation of the foldable phone Galaxy Z Flip5. Unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event, this device brings a larger external display, an improved hinge and a new processor. Larger external screen for better functionality
The biggest innovation at Galaxy Z Flip5 is the new external display, which now measures 3.4 inches, which is considerably larger compared to the 1.9-inch display of its predecessor. Samsung calls this screen the Flex Window, and it's almost the same size as the 3.6-inch display on the Motorola Razr Plus. This larger external display enables new ways of using the phone, such as quickly checking directions on Google Maps or replying to messages without having to open the phone. I am sure that this screen will become the main tool for most users, as it allows for a wide variety of uses.
Newly designed course for increased durability
Samsung has also upgraded the hinge, which it calls the Flex Hinge. This allows the phone to close completely, which should improve durability. The new hinge has fewer moving parts, increasing its resistance to potential damage. 
Processor and camera upgrades
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 also boasts a processor upgrade to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, which is the same as the Galaxy S23 series. This processor will improve the autonomy of the battery and help to process images better. The cameras have remained the same as the previous model, but have received a new lens coating that should reduce light reflection. We're hoping that this, along with the new processor, will improve the Galaxy Z Flip's photography capabilities, which have otherwise lagged behind the flagship S-series phones.
Small steps for big changes
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 represents Samsung's attempt to address the biggest weaknesses of the previous generation. Flip5 is not revolutionary, but evolutionary. The most important change this year is undoubtedly the external screen of the phone, which will become an indispensable companion for the urban nomad.
