The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, the Korean giant's first three-fold foldable phone, will be a true technical extravaganza: a 10-inch screen, Snapdragon 8 Elite, and a price that will excite even the biggest technology enthusiasts.
Samsung apparently thinks that regular foldable phones are – well, too regular. So for fall 2025, it’s bringing us something that would have been more appropriate in science fiction a decade ago: the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, Samsung’s first three-fold foldable smartphone. If you thought the Galaxy Z Fold was special (and expensive) enough, then get ready, because the TriFold takes it a step further – in every way.
Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold: Foldable three times, because why not?
Samsung's Z Fold line of phones is already one of the most interesting and technologically advanced devices today. But the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold will take it all to the next level. With a 10-inch internal screen, the TriFold will be practically a small tablet that folds three times and fits comfortably in your pocket. For comparison: Huawei's Mate XT, which was the first trifold phone on the market, measures 10.2 inches. So Samsung doesn't want to lag behind - they want to dominate.
Snapdragon 8 Elite: Mobile processors on steroids
A new generation of Samsung phones always brings new processors, and the Galaxy Z TriFold will be no exception, as a recent leak of code in the One UI 8 software reveals that it will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
What does this mean in practice? This is Qualcomm's most powerful processor to date, capable of speeds up to 4.47 GHz. Those who care about numbers will be impressed, but everyone else will be satisfied with the fact that the phone won't slow down even with ten apps open and Netflix in the background.
The camera we already know – and love
The good news for photography enthusiasts is that the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold will use a camera similar to the one in the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This continues Samsung's trend of excellent photo quality, although some say portraits are still not their strong suit. But - who buys a trifold phone for portraits anyway?
The price at which Apple products become almost affordable
And now for the thing that interests you the most (or scares you the most): the price. According to initial reports, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold will cost around 4 million Korean won in South Korea, which is around $2,880. In practice, that means you'll pay almost as much for this phone as you would for a small used car. If that sounds like a lot to you, you're right – but Samsung clearly believes that prestige comes at a price.
When can we expect it?
Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z TriFold in October 2025. But it will initially only be available in its home markets of Korea and China. It seems Samsung wants to see how the market reacts before sending its foldable beast to the rest of the world. Although there is no official confirmation yet, wider availability could follow in 2026 – if users are willing to pay the price, of course.
Conclusion: the phone of the future or just an expensive experiment?
Samsung Galaxy The TriFold is arguably Samsung's biggest gamble in years. It's a bold attempt to combine a phone and a tablet into a device you can fit in your pocket. But the high price tag and unusual shape will still be the biggest test - is this phone truly the device of the future or just a technological fad for a few wealthy enthusiasts?
One thing is for sure: When you first see it, you'll have a hard time looking away.
