Samsung Electronics has announced that six of its Neo QLED 2023 series TVs have been awarded the Carbon Trust's "CO2 Reduction" certification. This label is awarded to a product if its carbon footprint is proven to decrease year-on-year, demonstrating Samsung's efforts to increase sustainability throughout the product's life cycle.

"I am delighted that Samsung's sustainability mission has been recognized by a trusted organization as we continue to strive to create products with the future of our planet in mind," said Seokwoo Yong, Executive Vice President and Deputy Head of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. "As the largest TV manufacturer in the world, we recognize our responsibility to lead by example and will continue to use technology to drive positive change."

Carbon Trust is a global climate change advisory organization established by the UK government to respond to climate change and reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs). The organization calculates the carbon footprint certificate by evaluating the amount of greenhouse gases generated throughout the product's life cycle, from production to disposal, based on internationally recognized standards. Importantly, the label does not take CO2 offsets into account.

Neo QLED 2023 models were awarded the certificate as a result of Samsung's efforts to reducing the weight of products and their energy consumption during use compared to predecessors. The six certified models include three Neo QLED 8K displays and three Neo QLED 4K displays. As Samsung looks to expand the scope of these efforts, it expects to obtain carbon footprint certification for more than 20 models in its latest range of QLED, Crystal UHD and OLED TVs this year, as well as monitors and professional displays and digital advertising systems.

In 2021, Samsung Neo QLED became the first screen to receive certification among 4K and higher resolution TVs. The following year, 16 models from Samsung's 2022 range were also certified, including 11 models from the QLED, Crystal UHD and Lifestyle TV ranges, as well as five monitors and signage products.

As the world's leading TV company for the 17th consecutive year, Samsung continues to introduce environmentally conscious products and practices for its display products in its Visual Display Business.
