Samsung's first Samsung XR (augmented reality) headset, still known for now under the rather mysterious codename Project Moohan (sounds like a character from a futuristic Korean anime, right?), has been showing off at various tech events for quite some time now - but we haven't officially seen it in all its technological glory yet.

According to the latest information coming from South Korea, Samsung finally chose a date for the presentation Samsung Galaxy S8when he will remove the veil of mystery: September 29The first sales are expected to start already. October 13, but as befits, first at home – in Korea. Then, with a little Asian patience, it will spread throughout the world.

Android XR – Google + Samsung = the love story of the future?

This won't just be another "metavare" fashion accessory for influencers with seemingly full calendars. No, it will be the first headset with the new Android XR operating system – a version of Android tailored exclusively for XR environments. Android XR was first introduced last year and is being developed in close collaboration between Google and Samsung. Because when two tech giants join hands, an operating system with a capital letter is obviously born… and artificial intelligence.

Yes, you guessed it right – Android XR will also be powered by Google's Gemini AISo, if you've ever wanted to have a personal digital assistant that reminds you in augmented reality that you forgot your milk - now's your chance.

What about hardware?

There's a chip hidden under the cover Qualcomm XR+ Gen 2, which is made by Samsung itself, using their 4-nanometer process. In other words: performance will be there, the battery will breathe, overheating… well, let's hope it stays within the bounds of decency.

Previous appearance: Samsung Unpacked

But before we can actually hold it in our hands (or put it on our heads), Moohan will be flexing his muscles once again on Samsung's next Unpacked event, where they will also reveal new phones, by the way Galaxy Z Fold7 and Flip7. And as always – Samsung knows how to put on a show. (Ask anyone who's ever watched a presentation with more laser effects than the average Marvel movie.)

Conclusion? Samsung XR – the most anticipated gadget of the year

Samsung is entering the XR arena with serious intentions. If they can combine usefulness, performance, and at least a little bit of “cool,” then it could be Project Moohan the one that brings XR from geek labs to everyday life. The question remains: are we ready to live in yet another reality?
