Sapmi Nature Camp: camping among reindeer

The word camping probably sounds quite strange at this time of year. We prefer to imagine a pine forest, needles on the ground, barely any clothes on and the smell of the sea. But these are our perceptions or experiences. You can also camp in winter, in deep snow, at Sampi Nature Camp.

Sapmi Nature Camp lies a few kilometers away from of the Swedish town of Gällivare, right on the border with that part of Lapland that is under UNESCO protection. The camp, which is among the smaller in size, offers a sustainable stay in harmony with nature and getting to know the indigenous Swedish culture in the north.

Guests will be accommodated in Lavvu tents, which in appearance resemble the more familiar ones types and are equipped with two beds, wood stoves and furniture from local producers. Camp leader Lennart Pittja, a member indigenous Sami communities, which for centuries coexists with wild deer. Guests will be able to experience a part of their lives, as Pittja will take you on snow trekking or skiing.

A maximum of 10 people can stay in the camp at the same time during the day you can taste local dishes, and watched at night Aurora. The price per night is per person 424 euros.
