Selfies are deeply ingrained in our popular culture today and people are now classified by the style they use to take a selfie. And what style do you have? According to a recent study of people who take selfies, there are 3 types. And no, not everyone who takes a selfie is a narcissist.
On Brigham Young University five student researchers conducted research on this cultural phenomenon. They managed to prove that selfie transcends the limits of self-obsession, as it is an important tool for documenting today's society.
It participated in the study 46 people, who ranked their reasons or motivations for selfies in order of importance. The research team then evaluated these and came up with 3 types of people who take selfies.

Communicator
If you're taking selfies for 'education' and engaging your followers and family in an online discussion, then you're probably a communicator. Researcher Maureen Elinzano explained that such people favor two-way communication. Lena Dunham, Lady Gaga or Anne Hathaway upload their selfies to encourage their followers or remind them of important issues.
Autobiographer
Autobiographers are the ones who see selfies as a key tool to record important events – such as Rick Mastracchio, who took an epic selfie in space in 2014. The researchers point out that unlike communicators, you don't necessarily seek feedback and cooperation, although you still want your photos to be seen by others.
Self promoter
Researcher Harper Anderson says this group is actually the smallest. Self-promoters love to document every single thing in their lives, hoping to present themselves and their stories in the most positive light possible.
