The Seiko Prospex Jaws SRPL81 50th Anniversary Edition combines subtle cinematic aesthetics with premium diving functionality at a price point under $1,000/€1,000. Limited to 5,000 pieces, the watch will be available in July 2025.
“Dun… dun… dun dun…” – the iconic Jaws motif still evokes a whispered tension after 50 years. Seiko decided to capture this tension and connect it with an urban clock – Seiko Prospex Jaws SRPL81, which is at once occult, fun, and seriously dive-ready.
The Story of the Shell – How Turtle Found His Sea Dragon
Seiko's legendary "Turtle" – reference 6306 from 1976 – was one of the first affordable Japanese tool diver's watches. This edition of the Seiko Prospex Jaws SRPL81 has been upgraded with a ceramic bezel insert, anti-reflective sapphire crystal and the signature "shell" futuristic case measuring 45 mm × 47.7 mm × 13.2 mm.
A two-toned sea mystery beneath the surface
At first glance, the subdued yet mysterious silver-blue gradient from the bottom to the surface visually mimics the Jaws movie poster. At certain angles, a bulging shark silhouette appears, while a subtle red “JAWS” logo at six o’clock adds a cinematic touch, yet is effortless to read.
Mechanical beast under the shell
At the heart of it is Seiko’s work – the 4R36 caliber with 24 jewels, a 41-hour power reserve, manual winding and hacking seconds. It’s robust mid-range technology, accessible and familiar to enthusiasts, but without the premium price tag.
Hidden surprise on the back – Seiko Prospex Jaws SRPL81
The case back is laser engraved with an image of the Orca ship and a larger “LIMITED EDITION” inscription, along with an individual serial number. An aesthetic bonus is a soft blue silicone strap and a special box with a Jaws print – the ultimate collector’s set.

Conclusion: a funny concept, but serial seriousness
Seiko plays with nostalgia without being too kitsch with this model - the timepiece feels convincing as a film reference and at the same time grabby as a diving accessory. If you're into diving or the Jaws movie spirit, this is a collector's item that shines both underwater and above.
