How a Japanese driving and timing legend turns back time

Seiko and Datsun made history in 1971 by winning the brutal East African Safari Rally. Together, they have now revived this shared heritage with three limited edition Speedtimer watches – three different price points, all equally appreciative of the sporty and nostalgic soul.

When two Japanese icons from 1969 – Seiko Speedtimer and the Datsun 240Z – meet again, this is not just a marketing ploy, but a true story of breakthrough and perseverance. Seiko, the pioneer of precision timekeeping, and Datsun, the car that redefined sports driving, now collaborate once again to create a trilogy that celebrates their coexistence. That is – Speedtimer x Datsun 240Z.

Why these watches work – if we haven't convinced you yet – Speedtimer x Datsun 240Z

Automotive design in fine detail
The color scheme (black, red, blue) and font are taken directly from the dashboard of the Datsun 240Z. The lettering, logos (classic block, Datsun cursive, retro emblem) and even the leather straps from LWG-certified ends represent a concern for durability and originality.

Mechanics and technology with soul
The SPB517 offers simple compactness and usability; the SRQ057 is a technical masterpiece for collectors; and the SSC957 brings simple everyday comfort without compromising on the automotive theme. Vertical assembly and column wheel at 8R48, MEMS technology for stability—a chronometer for drivers and racing watches.

Accessibility
All models will be officially available from September 2025 at Seiko boutiques and selected retailers worldwide. Subscriptions are already being collected in Europe.

That's why these watches work - whatever your passion: whether it's for mechanics, motoring or simply reviving good style.
