Dualism series: Slovenians have an extremely futuristic web series

Taking place in the Web series Dualism is set in the not-so-distant future, a time when artificial intelligence already so developed that it has its own consciousness. We follow the life of Kris, who is invited by his partner Pia to participate in the development of an upgrade of the existing virtual personal assistants, where she was invited as a psychologist...
Tomaž Krajnc, a director and screenwriter and a psychologist by training, drew the idea for the story from thoughts that occurred to him while studying psychology, and developed it together with the producer Nejem Jezernik. “The digital future is happening today, and applications that will become our personal assistants will definitely simplify our lives to a great extent. Here we cannot ignore the socio-psychological questions regarding the human-machine relationship, which were the basic motive for writing this script," explained the young director, who is currently studying theater direction in Scotland.

THE UNIQUE PROJECT ATTRACTED THE DOMNA VALÍCA TOO

The cast, which counts more than 50 players, was selected at two auditions – in Celje and Ljubljana. Among the actors who already have acting experience to a greater extent are: Andrei Lenart, Maša Tiselj, Jože Doberšek, Jure Rajšp, Valentina Plaskan, Ondina Kerec, Denis Bornšek, Luka Žerjav, Aiko Zakrajšek, Rok Turnšek. He joined the project from the very beginning Domen Valič, who played the lead role in the short film that heralded the world of Dualism, and will reprise that role in the web series Dualism. He was convinced by the elaborate script, the drive of the team, their well-thought-out way of filming, and the brave decision for independent production. With his rich acting experience, he represents a great professional help to the team and has been a big supporter of the project since the beginning.

AUTHOR MUSIC BY THE EXCELLENT COMPOSER LEON FIRŠT

Last summer, the almost 200-member acting and technical team in 27 shooting days filmed for more than 50 hours of footage.

Igor Pecholer, director of photography, who has hundreds of successful filming projects behind him, says enthusiastically about the filming: "Every day watching the team work completely free of charge from morning to night and breathe for a common goal was inspiring and incredibly motivating. We became a big family with the team, the atmosphere on the set was excellent, many friendships and new collaborations developed." The original music in the series was provided by a promising 23-year-old composer Leon Firšt, who, among other things, can boast of authorship of the entire musical background for the musical Veronika Deseniška.

NON-PROFIT AND INDEPENDENT PRODUCTION

Web series Dualism is a Slovenian non-profit independent production project, where the good story and drive of young creators have been recognized by many Slovenian companies. The general sponsor of the series is the telecommunications company T-2, the mobile phones were provided by the sponsor Sony, and the other sponsors and donors are Mlekarna Celeia, Tuš, Avto center Celeia, Panvita, Mlinotest, Golden Rose, Celje Youth Center and many others. The producer Laura Gričar was honest: "We were positively surprised by how much attention companies in Slovenia have for youth projects and how they can recognize a good story. Without them web series Dualism it wouldn't be, and we are grateful for their support."
