What type of man are you? The original theory of alpha males derived from the study of animals in captivity and has been most popularly used to describe wolf packs and chimpanzee hierarchies. But after these animal studies, people began to figure out how the principles could alpha males applied to the personality traits of human males. Humans have been able to observe in the most successful males many of the same tendencies toward power that have been observed in pack leaders and dominant males in animal groups.
In popular culture, the hierarchy of male personality types has now grown to seven. These were developed organically to include a broader umbrella to capture most men in each category.

Alpha male: The biggest characteristic the alpha male is confidence in oneself and in one's leadership of other people. They are usually attractive to others, sociable and charismatic. Alpha males like to lead groups and naturally rise to positions of power. Alpha males tend to be in leadership positions, are leaders, have high military careers, and become politicians.
Sigma Male: Sigma men tend to be smart and cunning and play outside the system to get what they want in life. They excel at persuasion and thinking outside the box. Their biggest difference from alpha males is that they don't seek the approval of others and don't care what others think of them.
Zeta Male: Zeta men are independent thinkers and stay true to themselves and don't change for society. They know who they are at a deep level and have consistent actions and an internally guided mindset in all situations. They stay true to themselves and don't get drawn into movements or groupthink.
Beta Male: Beta males are kind and respectful of others. They have excellent social skills and people tend to like them because of their relaxed approach to life. They are usually open and kind to others because they want to be liked and appreciated. They have high social intelligence for interpersonal relationships.
Gamma Male: Gamma men are adventurous and interesting personalities. They seek fulfillment in life above all else. They believe in quickly converting money into experiences and a full life every day. They are very self-aware and empathetic to the feelings of others.
The Omega Male: The omega man is self-confident and oblivious to popularity contests. They tend to be highly intelligent and do things for their own intrinsic value and do not need external approval or validation from others. They are very focused on intelligence and learning.
Delta male: Delta males are very reserved and tend to be quiet and self-reflective. They are most likely the type of personality to move up, down or out of the social hierarchy. These are the men who primarily do the real work in the world.
