Slovenian visual artists Jasmina Cibic, Veli&Amos and Viktor Bernik, in collaboration with the 1001 dar store, used a shopping bag as a medium and created multiple artworks in a series. Each bag is an original work of art, designed just for the occasion. 15,000 works of art will be distributed among buyers and will come to life in the hands of buyers in expected and less expected ways.
One of the goals of the Made in China project is an invitation to the public to take the time to get in touch with contemporary art. Artists who are multiple designed, exhibited here and abroad and are among the most interesting authors of this moment in Slovenia. Jasmina Cibic represented Slovenia at the Venice Biennale, Viktor Bernik designed a series of artistic events in Cankarjev dom, tandem, within the framework of the Graphic Biennale Veli&Amos and they are currently presenting their new film Style Wars 2 around the globe.
What is the Made in China project?
Made in China it is multiple, artistic genre from the crazy sixties. For Made in China some of the most prominent Slovenian artists produced editions that present the essence of their art and sometimes add to it an unexpected element – utility. Made in China it's not for the rich, but for lovers of contemporary art and urban culture; artworks are now affordable for them and they can also gift them to friends. Facilities Made in China were conceived as art that would sell and find its way into the homes of many people, not just a select few. Made in China is an idea that the artist can experiment with. Every facility Made in China it derives from his other practice or even individual works of art. Each one was designed by contemporary artists who, like you, they live an urban life. It always has been multiple spread ideas and this is still the case today. It serves the customer in everyday life. For placing flowers, for a special experience on the beach, for better sleep... Sometimes it's just use multiple, which is different from the everyday, the one that offers pleasure. Multiple is about experiencing art without having to go to a gallery or buy an original. It is intended for you to get to know the artist and contemporary art. Made in China thus benefiting us and art at the same time.
