In cooperation with the Institute of Chemistry and Cinema Šiška, the Society Ecologists Without Borders is organizing a screening of the documentary film Garbage with a Round Table.
V Kinu Šiška the Slovenian premiere of the film will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. Garbage, and at 8 p.m. there will be an introductory video address dr. Janez Potočnik, of the European Commissioner for the Environment, followed by a round table with the title Slovenia on the way to Zero Waste with interesting guests from the field of environmental protection and the world of waste.
In a documentary Garbage actor Jeremy Irons discovers the effects of waste on the environment and people around the world, and ultimately finds possible solutions to this global problem. The film received many awards at various film festivals, this spring it was screened in to the European Parliament, but now we will finally have the opportunity to see it in Slovenia as well. The purpose of the entire event is to open a discussion on the existing possibilities for waste management in Slovenia, with an emphasis on preventing the generation of waste and achieving the highest possible level of recycling. We will discuss why long-term solutions are neither landfills nor incinerators and present successful strategy solutions Zero Waste, which is aimed at greater material utilization of waste and prevention of its generation.
Tickets for the movie are already on sale in Kinu Šiška, and participation in the round table is free.
