Slovenians at Eurovision - all Slovenian representatives at the Eurovision Song Contest

As an independent country, Slovenia first performed at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993, when we were represented by 1X Band and their "Tih ževen dan". So far we haven't managed to win, and our best ranking is 7th place. We have summarized all the Slovenian representatives who have represented us at Eurovision to date. We hope that victory smiles at us this year.

1993 – 1X Band, Silent Rainy Day


This was our first entry in the Eurovision Song Contest, which we did as an independent country this year in Millstreet, County Cork, Ireland. We reached 22nd place and in 1994 we were forced to stay at home due to a bad result.

1995 – Darja Švajge, Listen to me


In 1995, Darja Švajger represented us in Dublin and achieved an excellent 7th place, which is also our best ranking. Darja Švajger is the only performer who participated in the competition twice.

1996 – Regina, Day of the sweetest dreams


Regina reached the 21st place in Oslo with the song "Day of the most beautiful dreams".

1997 – Tanja Ribič, Wake up


The Good Prince and Princess Tanja Ribič brought us 10th place in Dublin.

1998 – Vili Resnik, Let the gods hear


Unfortunately, the gods did not listen to Vili in Birmingham. There was no victory, only 18th place.

1999 – Darja Švajger, For a Thousand Years


With her second performance at the Eurovision Song Contest in Jerusalem, Darja Švajger took 11th place.

2001 – Nuša Derenda, Energy (No, it's not true)


Our second best ranking, 7th place, was provided by Nuša Derenda with the song Ne, ni real, in the English version of Energy, which thrilled the audience in Copenhagen.

2002 - Sisters, Only Love


The first Slovenian "drag queen" transvestite group, Sestre, brought Slovenia 13th place in Tallinn.

2003 – Karmen Stavec, Nanana


Karmen Stavec took 23rd place for Slovenia in Riga.

2004 – Platinum, Stay forever


Duo Platin had to perform in the semi-finals in order to qualify further. Unfortunately, the finals in Constantinople did not take place.

2005 – Omar Naber, Stop


With the winning song Stop, which he wrote himself, he performed at the Eurovision song contest in Kyiv, where he took 11th place in the semi-finals, which was not enough for the final performance.

2006 – Anžej Dežan, M.Sc. Nobody (Plan B)


Anžej Dežan won at EMI with the song Plan B and thus won a ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest in Athens, where on May 18 he represented Slovenia with the English version of the song Mr. Nobody. He did not qualify for the final.

2007 – Alenka Gotar, Flower from the South


Alenka Gotar finally broke the spell with the song Cvet z juga and took us to the finals, where she took 15th place in Helsinki.

2008 – Rebeka Dremelj, The Devil Take It


Rebeka Dremelj represented us at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008, which took place in Belgrade. Unfortunately, she did not make it into the top ten who had the chance to compete in the final competition of the Eurovision Song Contest.

2009 – Quartissimo feat. Marina Majerle, Love Symphony


Quartissimo represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow. They did not qualify for the finals with their performance.

2010 – Ensemble Roka Žlindre and Kalamari, folk rock


Together with Rok Žlindra Ensemble, Kalamari represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo. He did not qualify for the finals.

2011 – Maja Keuc, No One (Vanilla)


Maja Keuc represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf in the second semi-final under consecutive number 13, where she placed 3rd and qualified for the final selection, where she finished 13th.

2012 – Eva Boto, I believe


Eva Boto became known to the wider Slovenian public by participating in Mission Eurovision, the show in which the Slovenian representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 was chosen. Emi 2012. She also won this with the song Verjamem, with which she represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku in May. She did not qualify for the final.

2013 - Hannah Mancini, Straight into Love


Hannah Mancini was internally selected to represent Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö with the song "Straight Into Love", under which she also co-wrote the music and lyrics. She failed to qualify for the final night, and in the semi-finals she landed in last place.

2014 – Tinkara Kovač, Round and Round (Again)


Tinkara Kovač represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Spet/Round And Round, after winning the Slovenian EMA selection. In the pre-competition evening, she managed to qualify for the final part of the competition, where she then took the penultimate place.

2015 – Maraaya, Here for You


At the EMA 2015, Maraaya reached the super finals as chosen by the expert jury, where they defeated Rudi Bučar as chosen by the audience. We don't know what her ranking will be, but the Eurovision bookmakers are predicting her breakthrough to the finals and an excellent 8th place among the top ten.
