The idea behind the project is to make a wristwatch that needs literally nothing to work. But did the team behind the project succeed with Solid State Watch?
We know Kickstarter as a website where people raise money to launch mass production of their product. The products that we can support on Kickstarter can be downright genius or make us scratch our heads when we look at them. One of those that you wouldn't even know where it belongs is Solid State Watch. It is a digital watch whose purpose is exclusively to tell the time, and interaction with it is not possible. In other words, her guardianship was taken away.
A case of art project of CW&T studio, which certainly stands out in the saturated wristwatch market. The studio team took a watch as a foundation Casio F91W-1 and only borrowed from her mechanism with a digital display worth This mechanism is placed in a plastic case, made with a 3D printer, and covered everything with even more plastic. The result is a watch whose movement and case are united for the ages. We cannot access the mechanism buttons, also do not change/correct the time, change the batteries or turn on the lights at night, which illuminates the dial. That's why it's time 100% resistant to both water and shock, which only a few can boast of.
Studio CW&T does not hide from the fact that with the product they canceled everything that the original Casio digital watch makes possible. The watch is described as something, which does not need to be dealt with further. something which works right out of the box and doesn't require apps or various setup procedures. This interesting, but still unusual concept is still being offered through a Kickstarter campaign, and the watch currently costs 147 euros.
