Solidwool: Modern solid furniture made of wool

The Solidwool project

Inspired by the long tradition of sheep breeding and wool production, designers Hannah and Justin Floyd developed a process that would innovatively preserve a tradition that is no longer as alive as it was in their childhood. Using a special process, the creative duo today produces sturdy furniture and home accessories from a material that resembles fiberglass, but is actually - wool!

In the south-west of England we find a small town Buckfastleigh, which inspired Hannah and Justin Floyd with her own wool production. The young design duo saw a unique opportunity for innovation in tradition and developed a special and strictly confidential process, with which today they extract wool from a unique sustainable composite material, which feels like it's made of fiberglass and is perfect for designing contemporary furniture and home accessories.

Under the name Solidwool - Hembury Collection thus we discover the extraordinary a collection of chairs and tables, in addition to creating their own furniture line, the couple also works in other areas, collaborating with companies such as Block Knives, Artifact Uprising and Fan Optics, and produces for them with an unusual process kitchen knives, boards, eyeglass frames, …
