If you own Sony's WH-1000XM5, then you know what it's like to live in your own sound bubble: legendary active noise cancellation (ANC), fantastic soundstage, and thoughtful features that rival brands are still trying to copy. So the question is: Why would Sony even upgrade something so good and create the Sony WH-1000XM6?

Rumors about Sony – Sony WH-1000XM6 –  louder than club bass. A new model to succeed the near-perfect XM5 may already be in the works. While we wait, let's take a look at what the next big upgrade could bring—and why competitors should worry.

The most concrete clue comes from the archives of The Walkman Blog, where they discovered import documents for a new Sony wireless model labeled YY2984. It sounds like something Tony Stark would name before handing it over to Pepper Potts. But it's more likely a continuation of the WH series, meaning: something is cooking.

Is it really about WH-1000XM6, not yet confirmed. It could also be a mid-range model, a new version LinkBuds or something completely different. But considering Sony's routine – one "Mark" model every two years – and the fact that XM5 They're turning three candles this year, so it's almost logical that something new is coming.

What do we want from the WH-1000XM6? (Because dreaming is free)

Speaking of speculation – here's our to-do list for Sony's next audio marvel:

1. Bigger battery (or faster charging)

The XM5 already offers 30 hours, which is great. But if Apple sells AirPods Max with a charging cable for 40 euros, then Sony can afford some USB-C quick charge on steroids.

2. Hi-Res Bluetooth codecs on steroids

LDAC is great, but the competition is already dreaming about it aptX Lossless and similar wonders. Give us the chance to hear every twitch of the artist during the unplugged version.

3. Better design – or at least the ability to fold back!

The XM5 went the minimalist route, but many people miss it folding shells XM4. It's time to compromise: elegance + practicality. Can you hear us, Sony?

4. AI features that are not just buzzwords

Now that we all have smartphones, watches, refrigerators, and partners, we might as well have smart headphones. Personalized sound, dynamic ANC adjustment, maybe even sensing the user's mood? ("I hear you're sad. Should I play Radiohead?")

5. Better integration with multiple devices

The newly updated XM5 has been given Auto Switch and support for Google Find My. The XM6 should take this even further – multiple simultaneous connections, without getting stuck. Multitasking is no longer an option, it's a necessity.

Why should Apple care?

Because Sony doesn't need annual conferences in blue-lit theaters. Their development is based on improving an extremely strong foundation, not on hype. And when/if the WH-1000XM6 does arrive, every other manufacturer will have to find their “silence in the noise” again.

So when?

If we rely on history and rumors, then we could Sony WH-1000XM6 already seen summer 2025 – maybe just before the IFA trade fair in Berlin. Until then? The XM5 is still king.

But in the world of technology, there is one golden rule: nothing lasts foreverAnd it seems Sony is slowly coming out of its silence – with something that could once again push the boundaries of what “noise-canceling headphones” mean.

In short: If it will Sony If you really decide to go for the Sony WH-1000XM6, another masterpiece awaits us. Until then… set up LDAC, turn on Noise Cancelling, and get ready for a new chapter.
