The Sony Xperia 10 VI, characterized by the advertising slogan "a powerful battery in a super light body", looks promising at first glance, but what if the promises seem to remain on the surface. The external appearance is almost identical to the previous versions, which gives the impression that Sony may be a little too satisfied with the already established formula.

The Sony Xperia 10 VI screen remains at 6.1-inch diagonal with FHD+ resolution, but despite the fact that we have already entered the era of faster screens, the Xperia 10 VI still insists on 60 Hz refresh. Such a decision leaves users wondering why Sony didn't take the opportunity to improve this key component that could have significantly improved the user experience.

We find a thick frame on the sides of the device, which may give some a sense of robustness, while others may feel dated. Fortunately, the model includes stereo speakers, which according to the manufacturer 50% are louder than the previous model. This is definitely a welcome improvement for multimedia lovers and for watching video on the phone.

The built-in camera system brings two lenses on the back – a primary 48 MP with image stabilization and a secondary 8 MP ultra-wide-angle and IOS stabilization. The absence of a telephoto lens is disappointing, especially since such cameras have become almost standard in the mid-range.

On the performance front, the Sony Xperia 10 VI is powered by a Snapdragon 6 Gen1 chip, which is an improvement over last year's model, but still not enough to compete with the best in the segment. With 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage that can be expanded with a memory card, the phone sounds good on paper, but in practice it will show whether this is enough for today's applications and games.

The battery remains one of the strongest points of the device with a capacity of 5000 mAh, which promises long-term use without the need for frequent charging. The retention of the 3.5 mm audio input is also a move that many fans of classic headphones will appreciate.

Conclusion: It could be, but it isn't

Sony Xperia 10 VI it offers familiar features in the market with attempts at improvements in certain areas, such as speakers and slightly better processing power. Nevertheless, the main strategy seems to have remained conservative, with an emphasis on continuity over innovation. At €399, consumers might expect more, given that the competition in this price range offers devices that are a step up in both screen technology and photographic capabilities. Sony will have to take more risks in the future if it wants to maintain its position in the increasingly competitive world of smartphones.
