Spa Brda: a luxurious spa resort in Slovenia

Visualizations: SoNo architects

In 2023, the construction of a luxurious spa complex is expected to begin in the Goriška brdy, which will also contain a number of tourist accommodation facilities - from hotels to glamping.

The architectural design of the project is signed by the renowned architectural studio SoNo arhitekti, and they were guided by the configuration of the existing terrain. The selected location is surrounded by terraced vineyards, which is also reflected on the facade of the planned building.

They tried to place it as inconspicuously as possible in the given terrain and merge it with the slope of the hill. For this purpose, it is planned to remove the upper levels of the hill, which will be replaced by the floors of the newly created building.

With its architecture, the building organically follows the lines of the hill's bank, replacing the removed peak in an abstract way. With this, the architects also enabled access of natural light to all levels of the building, and also opened a view from the interior to the beautiful surrounding landscape all the way to the Alps.

Symbolically, the facade of the building will pay homage to the Goriška Hills, as a wrap of terrace fences, which are typical for vineyards, will be formed around the glazing. The envelope will further emphasize the organic shape of the floors of the building, which represent the new top of the hill.

The architects envisioned the use of natural materials, and the color spectrum should also be based on the natural shades of the surroundings. From the color of the soil to the use of wood and natural stone. The green roof should make the building stand out even less in the space and connect the new building with the surrounding nature.

As part of this Spa Brda, a spa center, a congress center, two types of restaurants, a wine bar and 92 hotel rooms (standard en suites) will be available to guests. Next to the planned facility, 17 glamping units are also planned, which will offer even closer contact with nature, especially with the surrounding vineyards.
