This is the taste for the most delicious 'fried sticks' that you may know as churros.
Churros they are the Spanish answer to doughnuts, and their preparation is extremely easy. That's why they are a great companion for autumn evenings, as they go perfectly with hot chocolate.
Spanish churros
Ingredients
- 150 g of flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- pinch of salt
- a spoonful of oil
- 250 ml of boiling water
- oil for frying
- 100 g of dark chocolate
- 125 ml of sweet cream
- 55 g of powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
Directions
- Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add oil and water and mix until combined (dough should be thick and rubbery). Put the dough in a pastry bag with an 8mm opening at the tip.
- In a small saucepan or small deep frying pan, heat 5 cm of oil over medium-high heat.
- Press 15 cm of the dough into the oil, then use scissors to cut the dough close to the surface of the oil. Bake 3 to 4 pieces together, in three to four batches.
- Fry the dough for 2-3 minutes or until golden and crispy.
- Place the churros on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Then roll in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
- Break the chocolate into small pieces and add the cream. Heat the sweet cream in a saucepan while adding the chocolate. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted. Have a good run!
