Rafting Vlotkamp: an idea for a very special holiday

Have you ever dreamed of vacationing in the middle of a lake? Do you want to take a break from the stress of everyday life, the epidemic and at the same time admire the beautiful Belgian landscape? Then Vlotkamp is definitely the right decision for you.

"Floating Hotel" is an idea Tobias Knockaert and Kick Merlin, who wanted to offer guests an alternative vacation and enable them to relive their childhood dreams. The hotel is being built 8 rafts with tents, and it is accessible with canoes. This is not the first interesting accommodation that the Belgian couple has come up with. Namely, the project follows their treehouses, which stand near the city of Bruges and also provide an exciting vacation.

Vlotkamp in literal translation it means "camping on a raft" and just such an adventure awaits you if you decide to visit it. The accommodation is located on the lake Polderwind domain in Flanders in Belgium, namely right in the middle of the lake, so you will be surrounded by water from all sides. Each raft consists of five units, a durable tent is placed on it, and together they form a very special village that floats on the water. The project also has ecological value. The floating devices are made from recycled barrels and used tires, which protect the raft from impacts.

Before realizing the project, Knockaert and Merlinova had to deal with the technical parts of the design, such as how to provide stability to the rafts. They solved the problem by anchoring only one corner of the raft, allowing the structure to behave like a flag and rotate against the direction of the wind.

What awaits you inside the tent? Don't worry, the couple has taken care of yours too comfort. So you will be able to rest on a large double mattress in the shape of a circle, and you will be able to rest your eyes on it nice decoration. Outside, you will be able to observe the beauty of Belgium from two seats, and you also have at your disposal a small table. You will also find a toilet on board.
