Humans spend countless hours behind the wheel - driving to work, taking children to school, running errands. Therefore, it is not surprising that more than 70 million user playlists on Spotify are related to driving. With that in mind, Spotify has launched its Car Thing device, a smart audio player that fills your car with music, news, entertainment, podcasts and more.
If Spotify is your music streaming app of choice, but you hate having to fiddle with your phone while driving, then today is your lucky day! As already limited, Spotify presented Car Thing, a new independent smart audio player dedicated to cars.
You can control the Spotify Car Thing in a variety of ways that are ideal for driving. The device is working to voice control, and the “Hey Spotify” command lets you request specific radio stations, artists, genres, podcasts, and more. If you are more hands-on, you can also operate the device with a rotary knob – which is great news for anyone trying to pick a radio station on the touch screen while driving. They even exist four buttons, which you can preset to your favorite stations, which will add an "old-school" radio touch to an otherwise futuristic device.
Spotify Car Thing needs WiFi from your phone (or mobile data) to work, and you'll also need to pay a Spotify Premium subscription (€5.99/month). For now, the device is only available in the US, where it can be ordered for free and only pay shipping while supplies last. When and if the Spotify Car Thing is also available elsewhere in the world, you will have to shell out around 80 euros for it. To keep up to date, you can contact us today register with your email address on the list of potential buyers of the device. You will be notified when it becomes available in your region.
