Stories of the heroes of the first floor: inspiring stories of little fighters

More than 1,400 premature babies are born in Slovenia every year, and their stories are the stories of little heroes and their brave mothers, which are worth listening to. In the book Heroes of the first floor, the stories of many little fighters and their mothers are collected, but only these can be a support for everyone who will deal with this situation or just a proof of the incredible power of love and self-sacrifice.

Book Heroes of the first floor it is not only a memory of these difficult days, but at the same time it is intended to raise awareness of the incredible strength of premature babies and their parents, as well as support and strength for all those who will have to deal with this situation. Its creation was prompted by the experience of mother Petra, who two years ago started the project Heroes of the First Floor, as part of which a book was also published.

"The birth of premature babies was a traumatic experience for me. Growth arrest and interrupted flow to twin A were the reasons they had to perform a c-section at 29 weeks. "Despite the fact that the gynecologist told me that the reasons for the stunted growth were mostly beyond my control, or that as a pregnant woman I could not have much influence on it, I blamed myself for what happened," says Petra Znoj about her experience. , the mother of premature twins Adam and Žan, who saw for herself the uncertainty, guilt, and misunderstanding that some mothers experience: "In addition to all the guilt I imposed on myself, there was also a feeling of loneliness and anger at world. Why did this happen to me? Where should I turn? Who will be able to help me? I searched the web and saw that 1400 premature babies are born every year, that means 1400 mothers in a similar situation. But I felt alone in the world."

Heroes of the First Floor is not just a collection of stories

So she decided to bring the stories of little fighters and their mothers closer to the general public. The Heroes of the First Floor project sprouted just under two years ago, and every week it publishes a new story as part of it. Only these are sent by the mothers of the little heroes, to whom the author is grateful from the bottom of her heart, because they co-create something wonderful. "The heroes of the first floor are not just a collection of stories - they are a reminder of how hard the heroes fight for life and are motivation and comfort for mothers who still have to go on this journey," explains Petra.

Stories of little fighters

The idea of creating a book where all these stories could be combined was formed at the very beginning, and now it has become a reality. The book contains stories of premature babies and their parents, which were published on social networks in 2020. The book covers various stories. From Eva and Tara's fight, where the ambulance was stopped on the way home because one of the twins stopped breathing and her mother was waking her up.

And the story of little Alexey, who was already a miracle in herself, as she was conceived with biomedical assistance. The struggle of little Lovro, who was born in the 25th week with 760g, is also described. Every story is a miracle and therefore a great inspiration for the upcoming life challenges. With the book, Petra also wants to eliminate the taboos that still concern premature babies.

"I really want this book to help communicate about premature babies and their parents in the public as well. More and more are born every year, but I have a feeling that only those of us who have premature babies even know what this means. I, for example, I didn't even know there was an intensive care unit for premature babies - I thought they just brought the incubator to your bed. And then as a result, people don't know how to communicate when that happens. My friends were lost, in terms of whether to call her at all, how to help her. And then mothers close themselves even more because others "don't understand" and then everything is a vicious circle," the author is convinced.

Let the little fighters inspire you to never give up in life, no matter what your situation is.
