The Accademia String Quartet was created in 201 in the class of prof. Tomaž Lorenz at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. He performs in Slovenia and abroad. The members of the Academy were finalists of the Amici dela Musica competition in Udine. As a quartet, they also won the Prešeren Prize of the Academy of Music.
The members of the A la corda String Quartet came together last fall under the mentorship of prof. Tomaž Lorenz. In 2010, they had several high-profile concerts at the Slovenian Philharmonic, a solo concert at the Magistrat within the framework of the Musical Youth of Ljubljana, they gave concerts in Kranj and Slovenj Gradac. In November 2010, they played Schubert's octet as Young Virtuosos. They are this year's Prešeren awardees of the Academy of Music; they received the award for their academic achievements in 2009/2010.
