Designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, in collaboration with Swarovski crystal manufacturer, have developed a contemporary Gabriel chandelier that adorns the central space of the Palace of Versailles.
A dazzling installation, which measures as much as 12 meters in height and weighs half a ton, was installed in the 17th-century palace as the first permanent modern art exhibit. The two French designers created a hanging LED light system from 800 crystal modules strung around a stainless steel frame. In its minimalist elegance, during the day it offers the floating crystal shimmer of endless patterns, while in the evenings it provides a soft, warm atmosphere.
