Inn under Krvavec

At the foot of Krvavec and just under a kilometer from the lower cable car station, Gostilna Pod Krvavec is nestled in the woods. Most of their cooking skills are passed down from the old kitchen, which was given its charm by the nature of the surrounding forests, and their menu is complemented by the idyllic surroundings. Trout lovers are the first to come to Pod Krvavec, which swims in the pond behind the house a few minutes before it is served on your plate. For starters, you can order smoked and dried trout with sweet horseradish, trout with pumpkin oil, black radish and cream, or with olive oil, parmesan and arugula. Among the warm starters, it is worth highlighting asparagus with bacon and gorgonzola and young baked cheese on a motovilca with a balsamic and honey dressing. Main courses include veal, beef and turkey in various ways, and of course trout. We can try baked trout with prunes, gardener's trout with asparagus and cheese sauce, hunting trout with cranberries, trout in Teran liqueur, herb in tarragon sauce or breaded trout fillet stuffed with Karst prosciutto. For those who are not the biggest meat lovers, they prepare wide noodles with truffles in gorgonzola sauce and smoked trout, noodles in a sauce of three flavors, with porcini mushrooms, asparagus and prunes, porcini mushrooms with eggs or one of the salads. Among the sweet surprises that follow at the end, we can choose a roulade of blood sausage, panna cotta wrapped in a pancake, with chocolate sauce, gibanica or some other dessert from the hands of the local housewife. After a winter trip, a visit to the Pod Krvavcem inn awakens all our senses and we will definitely return because of the good food, idyllic surroundings, the simplicity of the owners and the close proximity of Krvavec.
