Despite more than 1.5 million pre-orders, financial analysts at Morgan Stanley expect limited appeal for the electric pickup. But they still call it a cult car.
Among the news that may shock Tesla fans and cyberpunks alike is the fact that finance giant Morgan Stanley has predicted that the highly-anticipated Cybertruck will be more of a "cult car" - than a mass-market success. Despite more than 1.5 million pre-orders, the electric pickup is expected to be of limited interest, with only 50,000 units sold per year. This is the prediction of financiers. But will Cybertruck really live up to its hype? Or will it become just another oddball vehicle that fails to appeal to the public's wallets? Only time will tell, but in the meantime, let the memes begin.
It's no secret that Tesla's Cybertruck has caused quite a stir since its unveiling in 2019. With its futuristic design and all-electric powertrain, the Cybertruck promised to be a game-changer in the truck market. But according to Morgan Stanley, the Cybertruck may not achieve the mass-market success that Tesla had hoped for.
In its recent report, the financial giant predicted that the Cybertruck will be more of a "cult car" with limited appeal. While more than 1.5 million pre-orders have been reported, Morgan Stanley believes the unconventional design and lack of practicality may hinder its success.

And it's not just Morgan Stanley that has raised concerns about the Cybertruck's appeal. Many people online criticized the design with memes mocking the sharp edges and unconventional shape of the vehicle. Some have even compared it to the DeLorean from Back to the Future.

Despite the criticism, Tesla is still confident in the Cybertruck's success. The company has ramped up its recruiting efforts and posted several new Cybertruck-related jobs on its official online career page. With production slated to begin this summer, Tesla fans are anxiously awaiting the Cybertruck to hit the streets.
So will the Cybertruck be a "cult car" with limited appeal, or will it revolutionize the truck market? Only time will tell. One thing's for sure, Cybertruck has certainly made an impact on the automotive world, whether you love it or hate it.
What does the research say?!
A new survey conducted by AmericanTrucks.com found that the Ford F-150 Lightning is more popular than the Tesla Cybertruck among truck owners considering going electric. While 27 % respondents would buy a Cybertruck, the Lightning took first place in the "most interesting" category, followed by the Chevy Silverado EV and the defunct Toyota Tacoma EV. In addition, 56 % respondents believe that the Cybertruck is not a "real" truck, and 43 % believe that it will hit the market in the next 2-3 years. Despite the rise in sales of all-electric trucks, there is still a lot of catching up to do when compared to gas-powered models. Only time will tell if the Cybertruck makes an impression on the pick-up market.
