The updated Lynk & Co 01 (2025) brings a sharper design, more technology and an improved plug-in hybrid drive. In practice, it is a compact SUV with up to 75 kilometers of electric range, a system power of 276 PS (204 hp) and 535 Nm of torque. With the More equipment version, it competes with the best in its class – the Volvo XC40, VW Tiguan and Toyota RAV4.
When I first saw the model Lynk & Co 01 in Italy in 2018, I was sure it was an Italian car. But the truth is more interesting: behind the scenes Volvo and GeelyIn 2010, Li Shufu bought Volvo, gave it its own identity, and in 2016, for younger and bolder drivers, he founded Lynk & Co.
After the latest ownership reshuffle (Volvo sold its 30% stake in 2024; Zeekr now owns 51 % and Geely Auto 49 %), the brand is even more focused on an electrified future.
Dimensions and context: “An optical trick that works but the Lynk & Co 01 unintentionally reduces
Car size 4.54 m in length, 1.86 m wide and 1.69 m in height – the ideal middle ground in the compact SUV class. On paper, it's right next to the Tiguan (a centimeter longer and three higher), but visually it looks smaller, mainly due to the black roof and dark C-pillar, which optically "squeeze" the body.
Trunk with volume 466 liters (expandable to 1,213 liters) is between the Volvo XC40 and the Tiguan. The split rear seat (60/40), a realistically usable trunk, and solid usability represent a happy medium.
In terms of design, it is a well-thought-out illusion: dark lines and contrasts create a sense of compactness – similar to The Porsche Macan, which is not a small car but feels compact.
Drive: a plug-in hybrid that frees you from pumps
He's hiding under the hood 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine (137–178 hp) in combination with electric motor (143 hp)The total power is 276 HP and 535 Nm of torque.
Battery with capacity 18.7 kWh allows up to 75 km electric range (WLTP), and the official spending is almost comical – only 20–24 g/km CO₂.
Charging is done via alternating current (AC): on a household socket it takes approx. 7 hours, on wallbox well 3–4 hoursThe maximum charging power is 6 kW. Fast DC charging it is not, but this is not a key weakness of plug-in hybrids.
In practice: daily driving between Krtina and Ljubljana was run almost entirely on electricity – approximately 400 kilometers with only occasional engine operation. The system automatically turns on the gas pump, which seems a bit idiosyncratic, but logical.
Exterior: less flashy, more mature
The 2025 renovation brought exactly what 01 needed: clean lines, elegant mask and restrained confidenceThere's more peace at the front, and a light strip at the back that could easily be attributed to the designers of the new Cayenne. Little things like that create character.
The test specimen stood on 20-inch black wheels, which visually appear somewhat “invisible” – a lighter rim would be welcome, as black swallows up details too quickly. However, despite their large dimensions, the tires had some height, which had a beneficial effect on cabin comfort.
The build quality is impressive: the doors close with a Volvo-like thud, the slots are even, nothing creaks. Euro NCAP he awarded him 5 stars.
Interior: usability without pretense
The boot capacity of 466 litres is solid, although not record-breaking. After folding the backrests (60/40), we gain up to 1,213 litres of space. Practical solutions are present: a 12V socket, LED lighting, hooks and a non-slip floor.
The rear seat offers enough space for adults, including ISOFIX, USB-C connectors and their own air gaps. The middle seat is mainly suitable for short trips, and the ski hatch is missing. The RAV4 remains more spacious, but the 01 offers a more pleasant environment. The attention to detail is interesting: coat hooks, reading lights, armrests on the ceiling that close softly and elegantly. The feeling of quality is present everywhere.
Front: 15-inch infotainment and surprising sound
The cabin is minimalistic, but well-made. The materials are soft, the joints are precise, without creaking. The main screen measures 15.4 inches, works quickly and transparently. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wireless, the phone charges without a cable. Voice control is effective, although without charm. The system is transparent, simple and allows for a lot of settings. The user profiles are interesting, which work by recognizing the person behind the wheel. This means that the car adjusts itself to the driver when he gets behind the wheel. No more adjusting the seats in the morning, the car will greet you with this gesture.
Sound system Infinity It is among the best in its class: clean, balanced and with a nice bass. In fact, one of the biggest surprises. Even at maximum volume, it remains sovereign, deep and clean. Ambient lighting completes the impression and creates a sense of peace in the cabin.
The car is well designed in every detail – from clothes hooks to high-quality holders and thoughtful storage surfaces. The materials are from a higher class, and the choice of structures is also interesting: there are five to six different materials in the doors, which is becoming a rarity in the automotive industry. Hard plastic is almost non-existent, and if there is, it is where it does not interfere.
On the road: Volvo-DNA in “relax” mode
Acceleration to 100 km/h 7.7 seconds, maximum speed 200 km/h. The steering is precise, the chassis is balanced, the sound insulation is excellent – there is even double glazing at the front. It holds its own confidently on a dynamic road, but gives priority to comfort and safety. Although it likes to be dynamic at low speeds, this is also thanks to the instant torque of the electric motor.
Surprising comfort on Slovenian roads, where with special Swedish It calmly “drinks up” every pothole and even road bumps with a score of 10. The car proves itself in the city with agility – the steering becomes light, and the electric motor provides instant power.
There are three driving modes available: Pure (electric), Hybrid (combination) and Power (performance)Sometimes the engine fires up at a slightly too high revs, but this is a characteristic of the hybrid logic, which works pretty much at its own pace.
Assistance systems include adaptive cruise control, lane keeping and partially autonomous driving in traffic jams.
In the city, most of the time is driven on electricity (WLTP: 0.9 l/100 km), and on the highway, realistically around 6 l/100 km if you are within the limits.
@janmacarol This week with the new Lynk & Co 01 (2025 facelift) and… wow. It’s like Geely took a Volvo XC40, gave it an espresso and added a TikTok filter. Sharp edges, a quiet ride, 276 hp of power and a price that breaks the logic of “premium”. This “Chinese Swede” knows how to surprise. This is a classic #uncut review ⚡🚙 The full test will be published this weekend on citymagazine.si and on my YouTube channel – this is just a sneak peek! Cost and Competition: “Value is the Main Story”
Basic version Core costs around 37.500 €, richer Sea but approximately 42.000 € – which is significantly less than its direct competitors. At the same price, 01 generally has more equipment than Tiguan or XC40 (including panoramic roof).
After Volvo's exit and Zeekro's acquisition, Lynk & Co remained part of the same architectural family as Volvo, but with a more pronounced electric focus. It seems that the brand will bet most on it in the future. plug-in hybrids – as a bridge between electricity and classic engines. This is also in a way expressed by the Lynk & Co brand itself, which literally means “connection” or bridge.

Conclusion: Lynk & Co 01 (2025)
If you're wondering where the Lynk & Co 01 fits in, the answer is clear: it has Volvo DNA, youthful energy and the price logic of reasonThe redesigned 01 isn't the most exciting SUV in its class, but it is one of the most meaningful.
The electric range is sufficient for everyday journeys, comfort and safety are at a high level, and the feeling of quality is convincing – even after more than 10,000 journalistic kilometers without visible wear.
If you often charge at home and fast DC power adapters are not essential, it is Lynk & Co 01 (2025) perhaps the most rational no brainer in his class – silent companion, which, with its simplicity and price, reminds us that sometimes a reasonable decision really does bring the most.
