Sometimes, in order to move forward, we have to take a step back. Studio Vural from Brooklyn had to look back as much as 500 million years when creating a new generation of hyper-sustainable houses. And that's how this beauty was born.
They are inspired by Studio Vural found in squid. This one has an incredible ability: its skin can change color to better adapt and hide in its surroundings. This can be initiated by the squid by design (so the brain sends information to the skin and it starts to change) or it can happen completely automatically. And that was the inspiration for the facility, hidden in a beach dune on Cape Cod, which is completely energy independent and independent.
The Dune House operates through an autonomous network powered by them solar panels and miniature wind turbines, which produce more energy than the building consumes. In order to further increase the efficiency of the facility, the structure was "buried" on Cape Coda Beach. Sand and local shrubs were used behind the facade, with which they insulated the concrete volume and thus regulated the surrounding temperature with the geothermal temperatures of the landscape.
They are inside minimalistic living spaces behind glass walls that let in a lot of natural light and enable soothing view of the coast.
