The largest exhibition of Cartier jewelry

The central space of the Grand Palais in Paris tells the brilliant story of the Cartier jeweler through 630 pieces of precious jewelry.

But the exhibition of the most extensive collection of Cartier jewelry to date goes further than it first seems. In addition to an insight into the history of the art of creation, it also provides the development of the position of women in society from 1847 to 1970. Since its foundation, the famous Parisian house has been staring at a vision of unique style by celebrating generations of influential women. For example, one of Cartier's first clients was the legendary Princess Mathilda.

The story is told by an extensive collection of sketches, oil paintings, ornate watches, evening dresses and, of course, stunning jewellery. Among them are quite a few truly priceless exhibits. For the first time, it is possible to see a creation from the personal collection of Queen Elizabeth II - the Halo tiara, which the Duchess of Cambridge wore at her wedding in 2011, and a flower brooch with a 23.60-carat Williamson diamond. Grace Kelly's simple gold coffee bean chain, the slightly eccentric actress María Félix's giant snake chain and crocodile bracelets, and the Duchess of Windsor's iconic panther brooch are also eye-catching.
Cartier's rich story will be told until February 16, 2014.
