In 2014, southwest China was rocked by a terrible earthquake that claimed nearly 600 lives and destroyed too many homes. More than 23,000 people had to be evacuated. Scary numbers. And after such horrors, the professional public always asks how it could be better protected against the forces of nature, which, unfortunately, we cannot escape. The Chinese University of Hong Kong won first prize at the World Architecture Festival 2017. Let's see why.
Building in 2017, the winner World Architecture Festival 2017, is an earthquake-proof house. V China's Guangming Village most of the buildings collapsed in that unfortunate year. How to prevent complete collapse or how to restore normal living conditions as quickly as possible? The answer should be found in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Traditional techniques and construction technology were questioned and given a good airing. They built prototype house, which should withstand earthquake shocks better, and its construction would not represent too much of a financial burden for the victims.
The construction of the house consists of materials such as sand, grass and clay. Double glazed windows and insulated roof will ensure heat retention in low temperatures and maintain a pleasant climate on hot days. Above all, it is a house that people with lower incomes will be able to afford, and there are not a few of them in earthquake zones.
Otherwise, we would like the reasons for such construction to be as few as possible in the future.
