As the world looks forward to the future of motoring, Land Rover is reviving the past. The latest Classic Defender V8 by Works Bespoke combines timeless design with modern upgrades that will make your wallet cry. But hey, for the perfect combination of history and power, it's worth it, right?

Land Rover's decision to resurrect the 2012-2016 Defender comes as no surprise, but it brings with it an important question: How long will Land Rover be able to use "donor vehicles" before they run out? Nevertheless, it must be admitted that they are at Land Rover Classic with the Defender V8 by Works Bespoke model, managed to create an extremely attractive combination of nostalgia and modern technology, which attracts both lovers and collectors of classic SUVs.

The key to the success of this project lies in the engine - under the hood is a naturally aspirated one 5.0 liter V8 engine, which produces 405 horsepower (302 kW) and 515 Nm of torque. This performance is transmitted to all four wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, allowing the Defender to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.6 secondsh (0-62 mph). With all these upgrades, the Defender is still perfectly suited for everyday driving on city streets or wild trails.

Of course, this Defender is about more than just performance. Buyers can choose between 16-inch (40.64 cm) Wolf or 18-inch (45.72 cm) Sawtooth wheels, with various color combinations available. The customization options are almost endless – from classic LED headlights that offer either the Heritage or Crystal lighting package, to options like a roof rack, expedition cage, ladder and winch for the true adventurer.

The interior is a real work of art, a combination of modern luxury and classic design. The leather seats, available in five single-tone or eight two-tone combinations, also include the option of Recaro sports seats. But we must not forget the 3.5-inch (8.89 cm) screen of the infotainment system, which enables satellite navigation and digital radio, but with the preservation of the classic shape of the dashboard.

The price? Well, here we come to the "painful" point. The base model 90 will set you back at least £190,000 (around €221,000 or $251,300), while the 110 starts at £199,000 (around €231,000 or $263,200). But if you need seven seats, the price rises to at least £204,000 (about €236,800 or $270,000). And that's before you add any extra options or 20 % UK Value Added Tax (VAT).

Compared to the modern version Defender, such as for example Defender Octa, which is sold for a significantly lower price, the price difference is really significant. You have to have a special love for classic models to be willing to pay such a premium.

Why don't they make a whole new Defender? The answer is simple: EU emissions and safety requirements would be too complex and expensive to implement such a project. That's why Land Rover continues to restore these older models that are already homologated, satisfying the desires of those who want something really special.

For those who want a vehicle that combines prestige, history and unrivaled performance, the Classic Defender V8 by Works Bespoke is undoubtedly the right choice - if you can afford it.

Conclusion:

The Defender V8 by Works Bespoke is not just a car, it's a statement – a tribute to automotive design of the past with the added value of modern technology. The price is high, of course, but the quality is undeniable, as is the heritage this vehicle represents. While there may be some cheaper alternatives on the market, none offer this unique combination of history and luxury, clearly reserved for the lucky few with deep pockets. Is it worth it? For lovers of real classics - absolutely.
