Volkswagen's vision of the electric future got a new face - the ID.7 Tourer. This innovative model promises a combination of tradition and modern technology. Basically, it is an electric Volkswagen Passat!
Volkswagen has revealed the first details of its new electric estate car, ID.7 Tourer. This model represents an electric alternative to the classic Passat. With the production delay affecting both the ID.7 sedan and wagon, Volkswagen will launch these new vehicles next year.
It's interesting that Volkswagen decided to use the name "Tourer" for the wagon version, which is a departure from their usual "Variant" or "Shooting Brake" names for models like the Arteon.
The vehicle will maintain almost the same drag coefficient as the current models, i.e. the sedan ID.7, with a trunk volume between 545 and 1,714 liters, which is smaller compared to the new generation Passat, which offers between 690 and 1,920 liters of space. Still, a longer wheelbase could offer more room for passengers. The ID.7 Tourer is expected to have the same engine and battery lineup as the standard ID.7, which includes a 210-kilowatt electric motor on the rear axle and a 77- or 89-kilowatt-hour battery.
Production will take place at the Emden plant in Germany. In Europe, the price for the sedan version of the ID.7 with a smaller battery is expected to start at around 57 thousand euros. Which is still a lot of money for an "electric" station wagon with a Volkswagen badge. This is also the only thing that we criticize in a way about the ID.7, which in principle is a really interesting electric car.
