Harley-Davidson's Livewire sub-brand introduces the 2024 S2 Del Mar, a production-ready electric motorcycle that combines street tracker aesthetics with impressive performance and premium components.
Harley-Davidson, the iconic American motorcycle manufacturer, has been around since the economic downturn in 2008 strives to return. Looking to target a younger demographic and regain lost ground, the company ventured into previously uncharted territory, including electric vehicles. Their first all-electric motorcycle, the Livewire, debuted in prototype form in 2014 and went into production in 2019. Now the Harley-Davidson revealed the final production version in 2024 Livewire S2 Del Mar, a street tracker-inspired electric bike with an impressive performance profile and premium components.
Livewire S2 Del Mar, built at Harley-Davidson's Vehicle Operations plant in York, Pennsylvania, weighs 195 kg (431 lb) and boasts a recharge time from 20 % to 80 % in just 75 minutes. With an urban range of 177 kilometers (110 miles), its electric motor produces an impressive 249 Nm (184 ft-lbs) of torque, allowing the bike to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in just 3.1 seconds. To deliver superior performance, the S2 Del Mar features Brembo brakes and inverted forks.
Livewire S2 Del Mar, available in Nimbus Gray, Nightfall Blue or Asphalt Black, retains the prototype's unique design. The bike's tracker-shaped seat is modern and two-person-friendly, while the low-profile headlight resembles a front number plate. The small tank is similar to a Harley to the XR750 dirt oval, and the cooling fins of the battery pack are a tribute to the iconic air-cooled ones V-twin MoCo.
2024 Livewire S2 Del Mar is now available for pre-order with a deposit of 100 $ (€91) and prices start at 15,499 $ (14.110 €). Deliveries are expected to begin in July. As the Harley-Davidson Livewire brand continues to evolve and expand, the S2 Del Mar promises to be a game-changer in the electric motorcycle market, appealing to die-hard Harley fans and eco-friendly riders alike.
