The end of boring hybrids: the Lynk & Co 10 EM-P is like espresso on four wheels, capable of 1,000 km of range and 523 “horses”

The silence of electricity, the power of gasoline and the taste of the future.

In a world where electricity and petrol often stand on opposite sides, something emerges that brings them together in a stunning symphony of power, elegance and technology. It's the Lynk & Co 10 EM-P – a plug-in hybrid that proves the future isn't black and white, but a brutally interesting mix of both.

If self-confidence had a shape, it would be a bodywork Lynk & Co 10 EM-P. The car acts like someone who doesn't need a logo to be recognized. The sleek fastback silhouette, hidden handles, frameless doors and slim LED lights create the impression of high fashion on four wheels. The LiDAR on the roof is not a decoration, but proof that this vehicle is created for a technological tomorrow.

In terms of dimensions, it is a large sedan: 5.05 meters long, almost two meters wide, and a wheelbase of three meters. On the road, it exudes power and calmness at the same time – like a businessman wearing sneakers.

A heart that beats in two rhythms

Under the hood lies a sophisticated orchestration of technology: a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an efficiency of almost 47 percent and two electric motors that together generate 390 kW (523 hp) of system power and 755 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h? Just 5.1 seconds. This is not a hybrid that makes excuses – this is a hybrid that doesn’t need them.

Two batteries are available: a smaller one with a capacity of 18.4 kWh and a larger one with 38.2 kWh. The latter provides up to 192 kilometers of electric range (according to the Chinese CLTC cycle). The combined range when the gasoline engine is also engaged exceeds 1,000 kilometers. Charging to 80 percent takes about a quarter of an hour – just enough for a coffee and a cigarette if the electricity is running out.

Average fuel consumption? About 4.2 liters per 100 kilometers. Efficient enough that you don't feel guilty when you press the pedal all the way down.

The cabin of the future

The interior of the 10 EM-P is not a cabin, but a living room with a steering wheel. The materials are soft, the color combinations are soothing, but at the same time give the impression of luxury. A digital cockpit spreads out in front of the driver: a 12.6-inch gauge, a 15.4-inch central display and a 25.6-inch projection screen on the windshield. All of this is managed by the Nvidia Drive Thor computing platform – artificial intelligence that can perform more operations per second than you do when looking for a parking space.

The seats are the art of comfort: heated, cooled and with a massage function. The rear seats have an electrically adjustable recline, an almost flat floor and even a mini-fridge that cools down to -6 °C or heats up to 50 °C. Whoever says a hybrid can't be a hedonist hasn't experienced this car yet.

Technology that breathes with you

Lynk & Co 10 EM-P is not only powerful – it’s also smart. The G-Pilot H7 system enables semi-autonomous driving, touch-free parking and real-time control. LiDAR, radar and cameras precisely monitor the surroundings, and the computer makes decisions with the help of 700 trillion operations per second, even before you think about them.

The air suspension and advanced independent chassis design provide a level of comfort that we're simply not used to in hybrids in this price range. The car is soft but not yielding - as if it knows when you want to drive with style and when you want to drive with soul.

Reality and romance

Of course, not everything is perfect. Real-world fuel consumption and range will be lower than the lab figures. The technology is complex, so maintenance will be more demanding. And although it costs around $28,000 in China, in Europe, due to homologations, taxes and logistics, this figure will be higher. Over 55,000 euros.

But let's face it – the Lynk & Co 10 EM-P is not a car I would buy for an Excel spreadsheet. I would buy it because it combines the best of two worlds: the silence of electricity and the raw power of petrol. Because it greets you with calm in the morning and an explosion in the afternoon.

Conclusion: the future will definitely be partially hybrid

Lynk & Co 10 EM-P is proof that the automotive industry is not tired of experimenting. At a time when everyone is talking about full electrification, this car dares to say: “wait, we can have it both ways.” It combines elegance, technology and performance in a product that smells of the future, but has the heart of the old school.

If the electric world is sometimes too sterile, then this one is Lynk & Co a pleasant reminder that progress can still smell like adrenaline. And that's exactly what makes 10 EM-P so interesting: it's not perfect - but it's humanly appealing.
