Xiaomi, the smartphone giant, is taking on the toughest automotive test – the legendary Nürburgring with the SU7 Ultra to claim the throne of the fastest four-door sedan. Will the Chinese car officially be the fastest sedan in the world?!
Better known for innovation in mobile technology, Xiaomi is now entering the automotive world with the electric model SU7 Ultra, which is already making history at the famous Nürburgring. With the presence of Chinese cars at the top of electric vehicles, the question arises: can Xiaomi with the SU7 Ultra prototype really challenge Porsche, the Romans and all the "Germanic" automotive brands on their home turf?
Impressive track time
Xiaomi is with the prototype SU7 The Ultra showed its ambitions on the Nordschleife circuit, completing the lap in just 6 minutes and 48.874 seconds. It beats this score Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, who achieved a time of 7 minutes and 7.55 seconds. Although it's an unofficial time, this impressive run already hints at potential.
The SU7 Ultra prototype is significantly different from the upcoming production version. The dashboard was missing, a racing steering wheel was installed, and the interior was adapted exclusively for the racetrack. Despite problems with the gas pedal, the driver with three electric motors and as much as 1,548 "horses" (1,155 kW) managed to reach top speeds - even after several attempts, which suggests that the official time when set could be even better than already achieved. This time is better than many, too Rimac Nevera is officially slower.
How fast? How far?
The SU7 Ultra delivers more than just exceptional power. With acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.97 seconds and a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph), it ranks alongside the fastest vehicles on the market. However, questions remain about the actual range and battery capacity, which Xiaomi is likely to answer in the production version.
The Chinese at the forefront of the electric revolution
For years, Chinese car manufacturers have presented strong competition to European and American brands, proving that they are not just imitators, but leading innovators in the field of electric mobility. The SU7 Ultra is living proof of the progress China has made to compete with Porsche and Tesla on the world's most demanding tracks.
The production version of the SU7 Ultra is expected to be available in 2025, when Xiaomi will officially attack the Nürburgring record.
