The late musician and artist David Bowie, who we said goodbye to on January 10, 2016, has been named the greatest entertainer of the 20th century.

He is best known for a string of musical hits, among others Space Oddity, Life on Mars, Heroes, Changes, Five Years, All The Young Dudes and others. He turned near death into his swan song: his 25th and final music album Black Star he mysteriously released on his 71st birthday, just two days after his death.
BBC Two thus created a survey as part of the historical Icon series, in which he asked people to "evaluate the achievements of the most important and influential figures of the 20th century in seven different fields of human endeavour". Alan Turing is the winner in the scientist category, Ernest Shackleton in the category of researchers and Nelson Mandela in the leader category.
In the entertainment category, the flattering title went to Bowie (beating Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin and Billie Holiday), who will On February 5, he competed with other winners in categories for "the greatest personality of the 20th century".
