On April 19, ESPN and Netflix will present the long-awaited documentary series Zadnji ples (The Last Dance, 2020). The 10-part series focuses on Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls' quest to win their sixth NBA championship in 1998.
Documentary series The Last Dance (2020) will premiere on Netflix on Monday, April 20, with two new episodes each week thereafter.
Directed by Jason Hehir (The Fab Five, The '85 Bears, André the Giant), the series tells the story of one of the biggest icons and one of the most successful teams in sports history - Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls from the nineties of the last century. More will be available never seen footage the 1997/1998 season, when the team won its sixth NBA championship. Viewers will be able to find out how it all started - from Jordan's childhood, the Bulls' tough times before Jordan's arrival, and the team's composition after Jordan's arrival in 1984, all the way to the struggles that led the team to their first NBA title. The series will take viewers through the first five championships, in which the Chicago Bulls dominated, and in between they will be able to see their challenges, struggles and victories off the court that were part of the cultural phenomenon created by Jordan and the Chicago Bulls.
It's an incredible script that serves as a fascinating backdrop to the main story, which tells the story of the 1998 championship and features extensive profiles of Jordan's teammates such as Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Steve Kerr and head coach Phil Jackson, but at the same time it contains a lot of fresh interviews from today's times, which they did with rivals and celebrities from the world of basketball and out. Throughout, viewers will be able to witness all the tensions and conflicts that defined this last, sixth league championship won.
