If you are planning to refresh yourself in the crystal clear lake water in the summer, then consider a vacation in Italy. We have selected the most beautiful lakes in Italy for you.

In addition to the delicious cuisine, design and other attractions, Italy is gaining more and more recognition in the world thanks to its crystal lakes. From the beautiful lake areas in Lombardy to the attractive Dolomites, which hide one of the biggest pearls of the lake. Check!

Lake Maggiore

Lake Maggiore, which stretches between the Italian province of Lombardy and SE Switzerland, has for centuries attracted travelers from all over the world in search of health and fresh air. This is still the case today. The place is high on the list of everyone for whom health is an essential value, as well as movement and spending time in nature.

Lugano, Locarno and Ascona are just a few cities that are located in the immediate vicinity of the lake and are no less interesting than the local cuisine. It focuses on meat dishes and cheese, the most popular cheeses being Ossolano d'Alpe and the famous Bettlematt.

Lake Iseo

For the sake of neighboring Lake Como, tourists often overlook its smaller "cousin", Lake Iseo. The fourth largest lake in Lombardy, located between the ancient cities of Brescia and Bergamo, is easily accessible while offering beautiful views and exciting adventures. There are also two islands on the lake.

The largest is the wooded Monte Iseo, on which you can climb to the top, to the secluded monastery of Madonna della Ceriola. The smaller island of San Paolo is presented as a floating walled garden owned by the Beretta family. Family heir Franco Gussalli Beretta uses the island as his private party venue.

Lake Garda

The largest lake in Italy stretches from Trento to the Renaissance cities of Brescia and Verona. Wealthy Italian families vacation here in the summer, enjoying the lively nightlife and shopping in expensive boutiques in the south of the lake. The soul of the lake lies in the town of Salò on the western shore of the lake, the birthplace of many Italian composers and artists, including Carlo Pallavicino, director Lugi Comencini and Gaspar Bertolotti, the inventor of the violin.

During the Second World War, Salò became the temporary capital of Italy and the refuge of the fascist dictator Benito Mussilini, who was housed in Villa Feltrinelli. Today, the deep blue lake and its pebbly beaches attract walkers and families who head to the shore for Sunday lunches and picnics when the weather is nice.

Lake di Braies

Lago di Braies or Pragser Wildsee is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in Italy. It is located at an altitude of about 1,500 m and immediately charms visitors with its turquoise-green color and the mighty Seekofel massif that surrounds the lake.

The lake is extremely popular among lovers of an active lifestyle, as it is an excellent starting point for many hikes. Although it belongs to the swimming lakes of South Tyrol, only a few muster the courage to jump into it.
