The carbon roof reduces weight by 30kg (66lbs), while the carbon-ceramic brakes bring an additional 25kg (55lbs) reduction. Despite this, the weight loss is minimal. A stricter diet may be in the works for the potential M5 CS. The older version shed 104 kg (230 pounds) compared to the M5 Competition. But let's face it - this car is still so heavy that at least an Olympic weightlifter should own it.

Despite offering a number of optional items and M Performance parts, BMW will not offer carbon bucket seats when the seventh-generation M5 is launched. The limited edition CS even had them in the back seats. Also missing are center-nut wheels, although they are available for the smaller M3 sedan. What can we do? After all, we can't have everything. That's what BMW decided.
