The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 brings a larger external display, a 6.9-inch internal AMOLED, a 3nm processor, a 50MP camera, a 4,300mAh battery, and for the first time, Samsung DeX support. The result? A phone that folds up like a retro 2000s glam phone but works like a pocket-sized AI computer.
Samsung unveiled its seventh-generation flip phone at today's Galaxy Unpacked event in Brooklyn - the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 – and equipped it with all the buzzwords that the year 2025 has: 3-nanometer processor, multimodal Galaxy AI, Google Gemini Live and even “post-quantum” security. The Flip has shed extra millimeters, gained a watt-light 188g and gained the first truly usable external display. The result is a phone that juggles retro charm with ultra-modern usability – and all at a starting price of $1,099, or around €1,099 in Europe.
Larger FlexWindow: greetings from the future on the cover
The external Super AMOLED display has jumped to 4.1 inches, stretching almost edge-to-edge and maintaining a 120Hz refresh rate with an impressive 2,600 nits of brightness. Without opening it, you can type replies, control the camera, switch songs, or call Gemini Live, which uses AI to help you make dinner reservations.
First impression from the field
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7: Classic flip elegance, now with a smart upgrade
A screen that folds. A price that (finally) doesn't break the bank.
The user impression above says it all: more screen, fewer compromises, and a price that hits a little less painfully than last year.
Body on a diet: 6.5 mm open, 13.7 mm closed
The Flip 7 measures just 6.5mm when open and 13.7mm when folded, protected by an Armor Aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and a redesigned Armor FlexHinge. Despite its slim design, it has passed the official IP48 dust and water test, which is still a rarity for a flip phone.
3nm brain: Exynos 2500 (global) or Snapdragon 8 Elite (US)
Samsung has equipped the Switch with its own 3nm Exynos 2500 chip for the first time, but in the US it remains the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Both chips support a more powerful NPU and the new AI features of One UI 8 (Android 16). There is 12 GB of RAM + 256/512 GB of UFS 4.1 storage.
Camera: 50 MP main + 12 MP ultra-wide
The hardware is on par with the S25 series, but Samsung spices it up with AI: auto HDR, advanced portraits, and "Dual Preview" right on the external display. Selfies? Just flip the phone over and use the main sensor - the picture will thank you.
A battery that can last a TikTok marathon
The largest battery in the Flip series so far (4,300 mAh) promises up to 31 hours of video playback. Fast 25-W wired and 15-W wireless charging remain, but with noticeably better efficiency thanks to the 3-nm process.
Samsung DeX: a convertible PC in your pocket
USB-C connector + monitor cable and the Flip 7 transforms into a desktop, as we're used to from the Galaxy S line. Combined with Flex Mode, you can use the bottom half as a touchpad and the top half as a screen - handy for a coffee shop "PowerPoint sprint."
Galaxy Z Flip7 FE – a flip for (almost) every pocket – cheap version
If the “full-blooded” Flip7 is a bit too much for your wallet, Samsung offers a fan-powered* (Fan Edition) solution: Galaxy Z Flip7 FE. For $899 (about €899), you get last year's 3.4-inch "folder-file" external display, a 6.7-inch internal AMOLED, 8 GB of RAM and an Exynos 2400 that calmly chews through a TikTok marathon, helped by a 4,000 mAh battery. Photo-strategically, it remains surprisingly generous: a 50-MP main sensor and Dual Preview on the cover, which can further enhance night portraits with AI. There is no flashy FlexWindow, the color palette is limited to minimalist black and white, but you still get IP48, Now Bar/Now Brief and the newly added Samsung DeX support. In short, the Flip6 with fresh AI botox - and the first flip that doesn't require selling a kidney.

Final Thought: Retro Glamour Powered by Modern Smarts
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 doesn't change the definition of a foldable phone, it polishes it: more screen, thinner body, longer battery life, better camera, and DeX as a bonus. If you've ever been concerned about performance or battery life, Samsung has the most convincing answer yet this year. A phone you'll be happy to show off—and have a computer in reserve.samsung
