The director of the film, Ben Stiller, who is also the main actor of the film, adapted James Thurber's 1939 classic of the same name.
The story of the film shows a completely normal everyday person, employed by a local media company, who does not have an overly interesting and exciting life. He is unsuccessful at work, but he is not doing well in his private life either. He spends his days dreaming of heroic deeds and love conquests. But the truth is that he doesn't even have the courage to invite a female colleague for a drink. The real life will be Walter Mitty forced him to become the person he had only dreamed of before.
