At this year's edition of the Venice Film Festival, the film The Shape of Water (2017) by Mexican director Guillermo Del Toro, who has been working in Hollywood for a long time, was celebrated. "Fairytales for adults" also predicts great success at the Oscars.
The story follows Elisa, who works in a heavily guarded building where the government conducts its secret business. One day with a colleague Zelda discovers a secret government experiment and an unexpected relationship develops between them.
Guillermo Del Toro, who has so far impressed with films such as The Faun's Labyrinth (El laberinto del fauno, 2006), Hellboy (2004) and The Ring of Fire (Pacific Rim, 2013), was also thought of as the director of The Hobbit, a prequel to the famous Lord of the Rings. Unfortunately, the latter did not unfold according to his plans, so for a long time creates original films, and as it turns out, The Shape of Water is one of the highlights of the director's career. The film has not yet been announced in Slovenia, but it might be possible to catch it even at Ljubljana's Liff.
