These are 10 unusual reasons why we fall in love

There are many reasons why humans fall in love, but some we would never even think of.

Love is an eternal mystery, but everyone has at least a rough idea of what type of person they are attracted to based on hair color, personality, interests, and the like. However, science proves that there are also stranger laws of attraction that operate on a deeper, unconscious level. So if you're not sure what you like and what kind of partner you want, you could be relying on one of these ten things without even knowing it.

1. Nutrition

An American study analyzed the data of 180,000 people who used the dating app "Are you interested?" and showed that food affects whether the user will contact someone. Women were 13 percent more likely to contact meat eaters than vegetarians, while men were 11 percent more likely to contact vegetarians than omnivores.

Women who are vegetarian are said to be more attractive to men.

2. Oral bacteria

There are billions of bacteria in our bodies. In fact, the ratio of bacterial cells to human cells is an incredible 10 to 1, so it stands to reason that microbes have something to do with an important bodily function like attraction. Dutch researchers found that couples have similar oral bacteria on their tongues.

3. Tears

In a 2011 study, researchers found that men are not attracted to women's tears. A group of men smelled "odorless tears associated with negative emotions" and then looked at different photographs of women's faces. After looking at the photos, men saw a decrease in testosterone levels and a decrease in arousal - all due to the presence of tears.

A woman's tears are not attractive to a man.

4. Body odor

Body odor plays an important role in attraction. Usually, women prefer the body odors of men whose major histocompatibility complex genes differ from theirs, and one way you can detect histocompatibility is through body odor. This evolutionary rule of attraction also benefits men: the more similar the histocompatibility genotype between couples, the lower their sexual attraction to each other.

5. Contraception

Research shows that women who take birth control pills prefer men with a less "masculine" face. As we know, women usually prefer men whose major histocompatibility complex genes are different from their own, but contraception switches women to men who have a similar makeup of the histocompatibility complex. So if you start taking pills in the middle of a relationship, be careful, because it can affect how attracted your partner is to you.

6. Name

At the Edinburgh International Science Festival in 2008, psychologist Richard Wiseman presented an experiment with names. He polled 6,000 people to find out which names they found most attractive. The women said that Ryan, James and Jack were the three hottest names, while Peter, Thomas and George were the ugliest. For men, Sophie, Rachel and Olivia were ranked as the most attractive, while Helen, Jane and Ann were ranked as the least attractive.

7. Parents

A study by the University of St. She showed Andrews that we are more inclined to date people who have the same eye color and hair color as our parent of the opposite sex. Researchers have hypothesized that this may be because humans are naturally attracted to what is more familiar. Do not worry. This does not mean that you are attracted to your parent of the opposite sex.

8. Sunglasses

Sunglasses make us all look better because they hide the asymmetrical flaws on our faces. Studies have shown that people are attracted to faces with greater symmetry. If you immediately add sunglasses, the face is more symmetrical. In addition, sunglasses add mystery to the face. So if your eyes are covered, no one can tell exactly how you feel, which makes you a more interesting person. And a sense of mystery has been proven to increase sexual desire as well.

Sunglasses hide asymmetry and create lust.

9. Red clothes

The color red works on a uniquely subconscious level. A 2008 study shows that men find women who wear red more sexually attractive. At the same time, the color red does not express how men perceive a woman's intelligence, kindness or likability. A study from 2010 showed that not only men are immune to the color red, but also women, as women prefer men who were dressed in red.

10. Common adrenaline activities

Research has shown that a couple who engages in an adrenaline-pumping activity is more likely to be attracted to each other. Because when the level of adrenaline increased during the activity, the feeling of attraction also increased.
